Coventry City's Chris Birchall is surprised more of his Trinidad & Tobago colleagues did not secure moves before the transfer day deadline.

Birchall joined The Sky Blues from Port Vale back in August while international team-mate Dwight Yorke switched to Sunderland before the transfer window closed.

However, Birchall was thrilled with the Soca Warriors' displays during this summer's World Cup in Germany and felt the likes of Cyd Gray and Aurtis Whitley should have moved to bigger clubs.

"I'm surprised so many of our players got overlooked," explained Birchall to TTFF.

"I mean there are a lot of other players you see at the good clubs here who haven't done much, especially at international level and they have decent deals.

"We represented Trinidad well at the World Cup and players like Cyd and Aurtis I thought would easily get something. There is no doubt that they are good enough.

"Our guys have proven it at the World Cup but apart from me and Dwight, I'm a bit shocked others didn't get something good as well."
