Coventry secured a crucial 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Highfield Road.Coventry moved three points clear of the relegation zone with a crucial 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Highfield Road.
First half goals from Gary McSheffrey and Dele Adebola were enough for Micky Adams's side to claim a priceless three points.
Forest started the brighter but they failed to create much in terms of chances with Kris Commons's drive the nearest they came to breaking the deadlock.
City began to impose themselves and they took the lead 24 minutes in when they were awarded a penalty after Gareth Taylor handled in the area.
McSheffrey composed himself to smash the ball into the top corner.
Coventry continued looking the stronger after taking the lead and Adebola, Shaun Goater and Lloyd Dyer all had chances.
Moments before the interval and a second goal did arrive and it was a smart individual effort from Adebola.
He picked up the ball 30 yards out and danced his way past a string of challenges before lashing the ball past Paul Gerrard.
Gerrard kept the score at 2-0 with a number of good saves in the second period, while Forest hit the bar in the final minute - but it was too little, too late for Gary Megson's outfit.
Forest remain entrenched in trouble at the wrong end of The Championship and are five points adrift of safety.
