Michael Doyle has been rewarded for his sterling efforts for Coventry City this term with a bumper new contract.

The talented midfielder's career appeared to be on the rocks when he was shown the door by Celtic in the summer.

The Sky Blues were alerted to his availability and snapped up the 22-year-old after he impressed on trial.

Doyle has made 21 appearances for Coventry and his performances prompted the club to hand the youngster a deal which ties him to Highfield Road until the summer of 2006.

Coventry are in the wrong half of the table but sit just nine points outside of the play-off places and Doyle will hope he can reward the club by helping them mount a promotion challenge in the New Year.
