COVENTRY CITY have continued their clear-out by releasing Belgian attacking midfielder Laurent Delorge from his contract by mutual consent.

The 23-year-old is the latest player to leave Highfield Road as The Sky Blues look to reduce their wage bill.

The former Gent player follows Runar Normann, Ivan Guerrero and Jairo Martinez in leaving the Division One club.

The midfielder joined the West Midlands side in 1998 but his first two seasons with Coventry were hampered by injury, including a broken leg in his first reserve match for the club.

Delorge made 34 appearances for the club - 20 of those matches coming last season - and was keen to become a key member of the squad this term.

However, a nasty gash to his leg on the opening day of this season against Sheffield United kept him out for a month and he was to make only two more starts in mid-September, against Division Two side Colchester United and Sheffield Wednesday before the club decided to let him go.
