Jonny Howson wants a positive reaction from Norwich at Millwall

Midfielder Jonny Howson wants to see a positive reaction when Norwich head to struggling Millwall on Saturday in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Canaries saw their six-game winning run come to an end with a surprise 1-0 defeat to relegation-threatened Wigan at Carrow Road on Wednesday night.

It denied City a chance of moving into the automatic promotion places and Howson told Norwich City TV: "We're bitterly disappointed as we knew the outcome if we had won the game. I don't think we were our usual selves.

"They got the early goal and frustrated us; it gave them something to hang on to. They're struggling and fighting for their lives, which you could see with the way they played. They got men behind the ball and were hard to break down.

"It's not the best we've been on the ball in recent weeks and they were well organised. These things happen in football and it's about how we react because we've got a similar team fighting for their lives on Saturday.

"If you're honest with yourself you know if you've done enough or not and we're an honest bunch of lads. Ultimately, at this stage, it's about picking up three points and we've not done that.

"There are a fair few games to go and it would be nice to be second but we're still in with a chance. We've been taking it one game at a time since the new manager came in, and if you want to achieve success in football it's never easy."

Meanwhile, boss Alex Neil has been nominated for manager of the month after guiding Norwich to five successive wins in February.
