Norwich manager Alex Neil has not ruled out giving former captain Sebastien Bassong a Carrow Road lifeline.

The 28-year-old defender, player of the year in 2012/13, was deemed surplus to requirements under Neil Adams and was farmed out on loan to SkyBet Championship rivals Watford.

But now he is back at the Norfolk club and, following a discussion, Neil will now monitor the Cameroon international's progress over the next few weeks.

Neil told the Eastern Daily Press: "I've spoken to Seb. Obviously things have happened in the past. I am aware of that and he went off to Watford for a spell but I assured him as far as I am concerned all that is done and dusted and we'll see what happens with him in the coming weeks.

"He is here at the moment and he is getting his fitness up again because he hasn't played for a couple of weeks and we'll see what happens."
