Norwich City have parted company with first-team coach Mark Robson, relieving him of his duties at the club with immediate effect.

Robson, who initially joined the Canaries as an U21-development coach in 2013, was promoted to first-team coach following Chris Hughton’s dismissal and Neil Adams’ subsequent promotion to manager in May 2014.

A statement on the club’s website read: “City can confirm first-team coach Mark Robson's contract has been terminated with immediate effect.

“The club would like to thank Mark for his work on behalf of Norwich City and wish him well for the future."

The news comes days after Nottingham Forest’s late comeback consigned the Canaries to a fourth defeat in eight Sky Bet Championship games – a run of form which has seen the once table-toppers fall to tenth in the standings.

And the club, who would not be drawn on the reasons for Robson’s contract termination, confirmed a former Norwich midfielder would fill the vacant coaching position.

“First team coach Gary Holt will continue to assist manager Neil Adams and there will be no further comment from the Club at this time,” the statement concluded.
