Norwich captain Sebastien Bassong believes relegation from the Premier League would be a 'disaster', but has backed boss Chris Hughton to turn things around.
After bolstering the squad with several high-profile acquisitions in the summer, there was much optimism around Carrow Road back in August.
However, the Canaries have struggled so far this campaign, and look set for a relegation scrap, with a tough run of final games adding extra pressure.
And Bassong knows the importance of survival to the club, admitting he is fearful of the drop.
"Relegation would be a disaster," the skipper told The Guardian.
"But I don't think about it. I believe in ourselves and what we are doing."
Boss Chris Hughton has come under much scrutiny after spending big on the likes of Ricky van Wolfswinkel, who is without a goal in his last 15 games in all competitions, with the club just five points clear of the bottom three.
But despite a disappointing start, Bassong insisted he is behind their beleaguered boss.
"I rate and respect him highly as a man and as a manager," he added.
