Norwich are in talks with Fenerbahce as they try to secure a loan deal for defender Joseph Yobo.

The former Everton player left Goodison Park in August 2012 and played against Arsenal in their Champions League qualifier in August.

Yobo appears close to a return to the Premier League, though, as Canaries boss Chris Hughton looks for new recruits to help boost his side's survival campaign, having already signed midfielder Jonas Gutierrez on loan from former club Newcastle.

A statement from Norwich read: "City can confirm we are in talks with Turkish club Fenerbahce regarding a deal to bring experienced Nigerian international central defender Joseph Yobo to Carrow Road on loan until the end of the season."

Hughton has also been linked with a trio of centre-backs - Blackburn's Scott Dann, Newcastle's Steven Taylor and Lazio defender Michael Ciani.

Norwich are 12th in the table but lie just five points above the relegation zone after drawing 0-0 with Newcastle on Tuesday night.
