Sweden international battling to be fit for the start of the season

Steve Kean is ready to battle Martin Olsson's suitors and has warned them the defender is not for sale. Olsson, 24, was part of Sweden's Euro 2012 squad where his displays further swelled the interest in his talents. Since the demotion of Rovers to the Championship, Stoke, Chelsea and Southampton have all kept a keen eye on the full-back's situation.

Interest

Kean, though, is refusing to countenance the idea of selling his coveted defender. "The way it worked with Martin was when he was away, there was a lot of interest in him," said Kean. "I have sat down with Martin and said to him we want him to play.
Enquired
"He is getting over a groin operation and is probably not going to be fit for the start of the season, but I have said we want to keep him and look at extending his contract. "I think there were clubs who enquired and we said 'not for sale'". Olsson's Blackburn team-mate Scott Dann is also thought to be interesting Southampton.
