Adam Drury: Norwich legend set for a new chapter in his career at Leeds United

Leeds United's new signing Adam Drury has revealed he rejected offers from abroad to move to the Championship club.

The 33-year-old ended his 11-year spell with Norwich, where he had been their longest-serving player, on Tuesday to join Leeds on a two-year deal.

Drury was offered a new deal by former Canaries boss Paul Lambert before his defection to Aston Villa, but news of the interest from Leeds prompted the left-back to consider a fresh challenge.

"Leeds United is a great opportunity for me," he told the Pink'Un.

Excitement

"I had offers to go abroad or to other clubs, but Leeds was the stand-out choice. I had other options, but the challenge of going to Leeds really appealed to me.

"My medical was on Tuesday morning, and it was weird really, because I haven't had a medical for 11 years, so I was thinking, 'What actually happens in these things?'

"It was a similar sort of feeling I had to when I joined Norwich in 2001 - feelings of excitement at a fresh start."

Promotion

Drury becomes Neil Warnock's second recruit of the summer and, having met his new boss, the dependable defender is confident he can add another honour to his list of achievements.

He added: "This was the first time I've met Neil Warnock, and it was good to hear what he had to say. I've played against his teams before and you know what you're going to get.

"He won't settle for anything less than challenging for promotion, so he'll want the same next season and it's something I want to be part of."
