Russell Martin does not believe there is any reason for Norwich to worry about life after Paul Lambert and the defender hopes the club can keep hold of wantaway striker Grant Holt.
Lambert has taken over at Aston Villa having built his reputation at Carrow Road following back-to-back promotions from League One to a 12th-placed finish in the Premier League.
Losing their manager is a setback for Norwich, who have already been linked with Cardiff boss Malkay Mackay, but Martin is keen to look forward.
Asked if Lambert's decision to leave was painful, Martin told
Sky Sports: "No, I do not think so.
"Unfortunately, that is the game. Obviously we are disappointed, but he has made the decision which is best for his career.
"We owe that to him to let him go on with our best wishes. As players, as individuals and as a team, he has helped us enormously."
Martin added: "I do not think we worry at all. The club and the chief executive and the board members will have their candidates in place.

"There will be a lot of people wanting the job, because it is a great job to take at the minute."
Striker Holt could follow Lambert out of Norwich after making it clear he wants to leave following an impressive season in the Premier League.
The 2009 signing from Shrewsbury scored 15 goals in the top flight in the 2011/12 campaign and West Ham are reported to have made a £4million offer for the 31-year-old.
Norwich chief executive David McNally insists there has been no bid, but Holt is determined to leave in what is turning into a battle between club and player.
Martin said: "Holty is a fantastic lad and he has done brilliantly for the club over the past three years. He has been absolutely colossal.
"He has made those decisions (to leave) for his own reasons. Hopefully he stays. But if he does not, he should move on with the players' and the club's best wishes.
"Hopefully he will not be remembered for this. Hopefully it will not end on a sour note. Hopefully he stays."
