Manager angered by questions about future after Drury testimonial

Paul Lambert has insisted that he has never wanted to leave Norwich City and is already planning ahead for next season. Lambert has been linked with the vacant job at Aston Villa following the dismissal of Alex McLeish, having impressively kept the Canaries in the Premier League this season. However, he was in no mood to talk about his future when quizzed on the subject after Tuesday night's testimonial match for Adam Drury. Having already refused to answer a question on whether Grant Holt would be staying at Norwich, Lambert reacted angrily to being asked about his own situation. "You must be winding me up. You are asking me some negative things and this is about Adam Drury," he said on Sky Sports News. "I am delighted I am at Norwich if that is what you are asking me. I have never said I wanted away, and people jump to conclusions."

Transfer targets

Lambert is busy getting ready for the new campaign with Norwich and has identified a number of transfer targets he feels could strengthen the squad. "I am trying to prepare Norwich for next season the best I can," he explained. "Ian (Culverhouse, assistant manager) and I have had a chat and we have got players in mind that we would like to bring to the football club. "Hopefully we will get those lads in and keep progressing the club."
