Swedish forward reflects on Bolton's decision to use him as a winger

Johan Elmander has aired his frustration at being played out of position at former employers Bolton. The Swede severed ties with the Trotters at the end of last season after allowing his contract to run down. He has since signed for Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he is hoping to be deployed as an out-and-out frontman. Elmander was often used as right winger during his time at the Reebok Stadium and admits to being left perplexed by the club's reluctance to use him through the middle. He is now hoping to prove a point to those who doubted him in England when he opens a new chapter in his career in Istanbul.

Tough

"It was really tough," Elmander told Alingas Tidning on his time with Bolton. "It is difficult when you think you are doing something well and then you get taken away from that position and placed somewhere where you can't play. "You have to do what is best for the team, and I tried to do that. "I thought I would be given another chance to prove myself, but I never did."
