Skysports.com understands Norwich have agreed a deal to sign West Brom defender Leon Barnett.
Canaries boss Paul Lambert has moved to sign Barnett on loan after losing Michael Nelson to injury.
Barnett is well down the pecking order at West Brom and Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo is willing to let him go out on loan again.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Coventry last season and Norwich see him as the right man to help provide cover in defence.
Barnett is expected to go straight into the Norwich squad for this weekend's clash with Nottingham Forest with Nelson joining Zak Whitbread on the sidelines.
"He (Nelson) is going to be out for a few weeks," said Lambert. "He will be out for quite a long time.
"We will try and get somebody in and hopefully Michael will be back sooner or later.
"I can't buy anybody so we will need to get somebody on loan - we have only really had Fraser (Forster) so this one will be a loan if it comes off."
