Norwich manager Paul Lambert is determined to keep Darel Russell at Carrow Road.

The out-of-contract midfielder is reportedly a target for fellow Championship new boys Leeds.

While Lambert brought in Andrew Crofts from Brighton last week, he insists the Welshman is not Russell's replacement.

"Rusty was brilliant for me last season and we are still trying to do everything we can to keep him," he told the Pink'Un.

"I hear the reports that other people are looking at him, but that's fine, he is a really top player, but we are in the running for him to stay.

"We just have to hope that he wants to stay. I am sure if the club can do it and it can be agreed with everything, he will stay."

Meanwhile, the Canaries have appointed a new chief scout, Ewan Chester, who was previously with Scottish champions Rangers.
