Paul Simpson has confirmed that he has held talks with Norwich striker Jamie Cureton over a possible move to Shrewsbury.
The 34-year-old, who rejoined the Canaries in 2007 following spells at Bristol Rovers, Reading and QPR, has only featured eight times for the League One side during the current campaign.
Norwich boss Paul Lambert revealed earlier in the week that there were a number of players, namely former Shrew Grant Holt, Chris Martin, Oli Johnson and Cody McDonald, ahead of the veteran frontman in the pecking order at Carrow Road.
"Cureton is a player I've spoken to, but I haven't had a yes or no - but that also goes for a number of others," Simpson said.
"I'm looking for someone with a track record of scoring goals, but at the moment I'm hitting a brick wall."
Shrewsbury are also believed to be close to signing Benjamin van den Broek after taking the midfielder on trial.
