Shakers to offer striker new terms

Bury boss Alan Knill has admitted he is in discussion with Andy Bishop to try and persuade his star man to sign a new contract. The striker has already netted 10 goals in all competitions this season, and is a key member of the Shakers' squad. With Norwich and a host of Championship clubs said to be interested, Bury are keen to tie Bishop down. Knill told the club's official website: "We are in preliminary talks with Andy Bishop about extending his contract. Really it was to see what Andy felt about it and it went quite well, so hopefully we will know within the next week where we are going to go with it. "We don't want him to leave, that's the bottom line and if we can sort out a deal to keep him here, then that's really the way forward for us. "He is a quality goalscorer and there may be clubs looking at him and they can offer him more money, but we will try our best to keep him here. "My gut feeling is that he will stay, Andy is in a strong position but again he knows that we like him and whatever offer we make to him, will be the best offer that we can make."
