Notts County have captured Norwich striker Ryan Jarvis on loan until the end of the season.
The Magpies moved for the 21-year-old after they failed to finalise a deal for veteran Shrewsbury front-man Andy Cooke.
"Ryan is a good football player who is lively in the penalty area, and we're pleased to have secured his services," said County assistant manager Dave Kevan.
"We can confirm that we had Andy in for talks, but the transfer will not be happening now. We would like to wish Andy all the best."
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that defender Guy Branston has left the club after his one-month deal came to an end.
