Wigan goalkeeper Carlo Nash faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg in training. The 34-year-old custodian suffered the injury in training last week and scans have shown he has suffered a break to his fibula. The injury is expected to keep Nash out of action for up to three months and the former Preston man is keen to get back to impress whoever takes over from Chris Hutchings at The JJB Stadium.

Crack

"I just went over awkwardly on it with all my weight and just heard this almighty crack," said Nash. "People said they heard it from 20 yards away. "After a scan I found out that I broke my fibula. "I just want to get back as soon as possible and impress the new manager." Latics caretaker boss Frank Barlow has backed the keeper to return to fitness soon. "It's a blow for Carlo who is a top pro and a great person to have at the club,'' said Barlow. "But he will get over the setback I'm sure and soon be back challenging for his place. Our medical team are very experienced and will get him back fit.''
