Norwich City have continued planning for their campaign in The Premiership by handing a new contract to young forward Ian Henderson.

The 19-year-old has made nearly 50 first team appearances for The Canaries and he is rated very highly at Carrow Road.

City boss Nigel Worthington has now rewarded his progress with a new long-term deal.

"I am delighted, it's nice that the management team can show faith in me with the team getting promoted," Henderson's told Norwich's official website.

"I played a small part in the promotion campaign last season and hopefully I will get the chance to work just as hard and get more games under my belt in the Premiership.

"I am really looking forward to playing the creme de la creme and especially playing against Liverpool and the likes of Michael Owen.

"It will be a great opportunity for me to gain new experiences against Premiership teams and learn from some of the best players out there."

Meanwhile, Norwich are being linked with a number of players as they look to bolster their squad in time for the new season.

The latest names said to be interesting Worthington are Paul Thirlwell and Ulrik Laursen.

Midfielder Thirlwell was recently released by Sunderland - but already has over 10 clubs looking to seal his signature.

Danish stopper Laursen is currently with Celtic, but he is only squad member at Parkhead and may be open to a move south of the border.
