Burnley striker Danny Ings has revealed he’s still no closer to finalising his future at Turf Moor.
The England U21 international is out of contract at the end of the season, with Liverpool and Tottenham among the clubs reportedly interested in the forward.
Manager Sean Dyche is keen to keep the in-form 22-year-old at the Clarets, but when Ings was asked whether contract talks had progressed, he told Goals on Sunday: “To be honest, no, I’m just getting on with my football.
“Obviously with social media and all of that outside noise there’s going to be speculation for any player doing well for their club.
“I’m not the type of player to buzz off the speculation and think, ‘Maybe I can move there’. It’s all about the football, letting my feet do the talking, and I’m happy at the moment.”
Ings scored for the third Premier League game in row in Burnley’s 3-2 loss at home to Crystal Palace, taking his season total to seven.
The defeat leaves Burnley hovering outside the relegation zone, but Ings believes his side have the qualities to survive in the top-flight.
“When I came up with Burnley, I had my mind set that I’ve got a job to do in helping to keep Burnley up," he added.
“It’s not all about me, it’s about the team, but I’ve got a massive target ahead of me and so have the team and I’m just focusing on that.
“What the gaffer has done extremely well is he’s brought out the best in every single one of us to perform to our absolute maximum. “
International future?
The striker’s Premier League performances have led to him being linked with a potential England call-up, something Ings would love to happen.
“If an opportunity ever comes for me then I’m planning to take it with both hands,” Ings said.
“I’m only 22 years old, so there’s still a lot of development to be made from myself and there are a lot of top strikers.
“It’s not just about getting a call-up. It’s about getting a call-up, maintaining it and staying in that squad. That’s what I’m aiming for.”
