Winger feels he is over his injury problems

Michael Kightly has welcomed Stoke's interest in signing former Manchester United striker Michael Owen. Stoke boss Tony Pulis has confirmed he is keeping tabs on Owen as he looks to bolster his attacking options. Winger Kightly, who joined Stoke from Wolves earlier this summer, would be happy to link up with free agent Owen at the Britannia Stadium and insists their ambition in trying to sign players like Owen convinced him to make the move to the Potteries. "Michael's a top, top player and his experience will only help us, so we'll see what happens," Kightly said. "He's not been the first big player to be linked with this club and that's one of the attractions that was there for me to come here. "Whether we sign him is a different matter but it's a club that I feel that are pushing in the right direction and one that I wanted to be a part of."

Happy

Kightly, who marked his debut for Stoke with a goal in the draw with Reading believes he is over his injury problems which blighted his time at Wolves. "Obviously, I've had a tough time with injury but I feel like I'm well over that now," added Kightly. "I played 30-odd games last year and I just want to build on that this year."
