Summer signing Sam Vokes insists he is eager to play a key role for Burnley this season after being on the fringes at Wolves in recent years.
The Wales international completed his permanent switch to Turf Moor last month after impressing during a two-month loan spell last season.
The 22-year-old striker managed just four league starts for Wolves during his four years at the Black Country outfit, forcing him to go out on loan on six occasions in search of first-team football.
However, the 6ft 2in target man told
Sky Sports that he is keen to settle down with the Clarets and fulfil his undoubted potential.
"It has been great to move back up with the lads again having got on so well with them last year whilst I was here on loan," he said.
Ambitious set-up
"I've worked with the gaffer and staff before and knew all the lads at the club as well, so the fact that they have an ambitious set-up here that is looking to push forward again this season was a huge draw.
"I was involved a lot during my first year there (Wolves) and we managed to gain promotion from the Championship, so I was very pleased at that point.
"It was tough for me to break into the side once we were in the Premier League, though, and I had to go out on loan to get some first-team football under my belt.
"I appreciated each and every one of those loan spells and will benefit from that experience gained now that I've found a permanent home for my talent.
"Now I can settle down, play some games and hopefully go from strength to strength for Burnley."
Tricky start
The Clarets travel to Vale Park on Tuesday to kick off their campaign against Port Vale in the Capital One Cup and Vokes is determined to progress further in the competition.
"It will be a tricky game and it is a strange one with us starting the campaign with a league cup match," he said.
"It is our first competitive game of the season so the lads might still be fighting to get that sharpness back, but we want to go down there, put a good performance in and get our name in the hat for the next round."
