Treacy targets Owls start

Sheffield Wednesday's on-loan midfielder Keith Treacy hopes to have convinced manager Dave Jones to start against Wycombe this weekend.

Winger Treacy, 23, who joined from Burnley in March, forced his way into the side for Saturday's 2-1 win at Brentford ahead of Jermaine Johnson and rewarded Jones with the opening goal and an assist for Miguel Llera's winner, "I don't make any excuses, I wasn't fit when I came here and me and the manager sat down and we both knew that, that's why I wasn't really in contention when I first came, I wasn't able to push JJ," Treacy told the club's official website. "But the gaffer went with me on Saturday and hopefully I can get another start this weekend." Wednesday's win and Sheffield United's 2-2 home draw with Stevenage leaves Jones' side a point ahead of their city rivals with one game to go. Treacy added: "It's just something about this Sheffield Wednesday team. Last week Carlisle got a leveller and this week Brentford - we never know when we're beaten, we test them to the last and we just keep coming back."
