Paul Dickov does not want to call upon shoulder injury duo Alex Cisak and James Wesolowski before the end of the season.

Goalkeeper Cisak is due to see a specialist on Thursday in the hope of receiving the all clear to resume training having damaged the joint colliding with a post in the game with Leyton Orient three weeks ago.

Wesolowski has been a long-term absentee from the Latics midfield having suffered a persistent dislocation problem and Dickov hopes both players can focus on pre-season, but remains wary that his club are yet to mathematically secure their League One status ahead of Saturday's game with Preston.

"Alex is hopefully going to get the all-clear from the specialist to start back training," said Dickov, whose side are six points above the relegation zone with three games remaining.

"What we've got to decide is will it be worthwhile chucking him in for the last few games. Hopefully we don't need Alex and James before the end of the season."

On Wesolowski, Dickov added: "Jimbo's definitely chomping at the bit to join in full training, but with the operation he's had we're going to have to give him the time allocated.

"If anything, Jim's saying himself that the shoulder is stronger than when it went out the first time."
