Jay Rodriguez insists he is happy to still be a Burnley player after being linked with a move to the Premier League during the transfer window.

The striker scored both goals in Tuesday night's 2-0 success at Nottingham Forest to take his tally for the season to 16 in all competitions.

His form for the Clarets this term saw Newcastle United and Norwich City both linked with January swoops for the 22-year-old.

However, following the passing of the deadline, Rodriguez is focusing on the future at Turf Moor and reaching 20 goals for the campaign.

Working hard

"I want to push on with the Clarets. I am enjoying myself here and I'm looking forward to seeing where we are at the end of the season," Rodriguez told the club's official website.

"I think we can go all the way but we are not going to get carried away. We know we have got a lot of hard work to do. We are putting that in and it's showing in the results and hopefully we can kick on.

"At the start of the season I just wanted to score more than I did last year which was 15. Now I want 20 but I will just keep working hard and see where it takes me.

"I am looking forward to the future. The team is looking stronger and stronger each week and it's a joy to be training and playing with the lads."
