No regrets for Trippier

Kieran Trippier insists he had no 'second thoughts' about deciding to leave Manchester City to join Burnley on a permanent basis.

Full-back confident Burnley can make the Championship play-offs

Kieran Trippier insists he had no 'second thoughts' about deciding to leave Manchester City to join Burnley on a permanent basis. The promising full-back joined the Clarets on a season-long loan last summer before signing a three-and-a-half year contract at Turf Moor earlier this month. He had failed to make a first-team appearance during his time at City and was informed he had no long-term role at the Etihad Stadium following talks with Roberto Mancini. Trippier helped Burnley to a 2-0 win at promotion rivals Middlesbrough on Saturday and he is confident the club can secure a play-off spot in the Championship.

Delighted

"At Man City the manager said I would not be in his plans so I said OK," said Trippier in the Daily Mirror. "As soon as Eddie (Howe) spoke to me and said he wanted me, I didn't have any second thoughts. I am delighted and there is nothing better than playing every week. "I said when I signed my contract we will be in the play-offs and if we keep playing like that, we will be. "The gaffer has done a lot for this team. He is a very good manager. Since I have come here I have settled in. He is a young manager and he understands me. He has done a lot of one-to-one with me. He is just a great manager. He believes in me as a young player and brought me in and trusted me. "Hopefully I have shown what I can do. I have signed for three-and-a-half years and want to make it as a right-back. With Eddie as manager, he will lead the way."
