Clarets striker encouraged after three straight wins

Sam Vokes believes Burnley have proved that they are good enough to be in contention for promotion from the Championship. The Clarets have won three games in a row, beating Hull City, Ipswich Town and West Ham United along the way. They had to come from behind in the games at the KC Stadium and Upton Park and they are now five points off the top six. Last season Burnley finished in eighth place - seven points outside the play-offs - after being relegated from the Premier League. But after spending much of this season in the bottom half of the table, Vokes feels that Eddie Howe has a strong side at his disposal.

Play-offs

The striker told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Before people were talking about the relegation zone but now we're talking about the play-offs. That's what a week can do in this league. "We've proved we're good enough to be up there. These nine points from the last three games could be huge at the end of the season. "Speaking to a few of the other lads I think a big turning point was with about 15 minutes to go at Hull last week. At 2-0 down everyone's written us off but we've turned it around. "I think that same spirit came out again at West Ham and we managed to turn it around there as well."
