Birmingham manager hoping to keep veteran

Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton has refuted speculation that captain Stephen Carr could leave the club this summer. The veteran defender has been linked with a move to the likes of Wolves, Stoke and Queens Park Rangers during the close season following Blues' relegation. However, ex-Newcastle man Hughton insists the 34-year-old stopper will not be leaving St Andrews this summer. "There's speculation about lots of players, but as for him, absolutely not, he's the club captain," he told the Express & Star. Meanwhile, Hughton has not given up hope that the club could land former Wolves man David Jones, despite Wigan's desire to land the midfielder. "He's a player we've spoken to, but as with all players, wait and see," he continued. "They have to look at the options they've got."
