Defender set for loan after also playing for MK Dons

Burnley defender Kevin Long is to spend a week training with Carlisle United following a brief trial at MK Dons. Long is being allowed to leave Turf Moor on loan to build up his experience after not featuring for the Burnley first team since his January arrival from Cork City. He played for MK Dons in a pre-season friendly against St Neots Town on Saturday, but has now linked up with League One rivals Carlisle. The 19-year-old will train with Greg Abbott's side over the next few days and could feature in Friday's friendly against Darlington. Abbott is looking to improve his defensive options and is also waiting for Jean-Yves M'Voto to decide on a move to Brunton Park after the Sunderland stopper played in Carlisle's friendly defeat by Newcastle on Saturday.
