Midfielder signs three-year deal at Turf Moor

Dean Marney has joined Burnley from Hull City on a three-year deal after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old midfielder, who has moved for a reported £500,000, becomes manager Brian Laws' first new signing of the summer. Both the Tigers and the Clarets suffered relegation from the Premier League and will be plying their trade in the Championship next term. Laws said: "It is a good way to start and I am delighted we have got Dean. "Midfield is an area we wanted to strengthen and for a young age he has a lot of experience."

Pedigree

Marney has ended a four-year stay with Hull after starting his career at Tottenham. Laws added: "Dean has played for two years in the Premier League so he knows what is required. "He is a box-to-box player, full of energy, and his link play with the midfield and forwards is exceptional. "His pedigree, coming from Tottenham, shows that he can play and he will be a great addition to the squad."
