Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland has revealed the club may make a move for Steve Jones even if they extend Dean Morgan's loan stay.

Club keen on former striker

Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland has revealed the club may make a move for former striker Steve Jones even if they extend Dean Morgan's loan stay. Burnley forward Jones, who spent five years with the Railwaymen between 2001 and 2006, was set to join the League One strugglers on loan in January until a knee injury struck. The Northern Ireland international made his comeback last week and Alexandra have until Thursday's loan deadline to resurrect the deal.

Hope

"Even if we keep Dean here, we would still be interested in taking Jonah (Jones) on loan," Holland told the club's official website. "Our objective is to keep Crewe Alexandra in this division and if that means we have to go out and collect good players to accomplish that then that is what we will do. "If someone like Steve could come here and make a difference over the next month then it is worth doing. I've kept in touch with Steve and he played for Burnley reserves last week. "I don't think he has suffered any reaction to his injury, so he remains a possibility before Thursday. Signing Dean or not will have no bearing on trying to sort something out in regards to Jonah."
