Burnley's Michael Duff will be suspended after his red card against Stoke.

Burnley were leading 2-1 against Stoke when Duff picked up a second yellow card for deliberate handball.

The Clarets were hoping that match referee Mike Jones would take a look at the video from the game and see if he had made an error.

However, Jones has decided that he does not need to see the incident again, and Duff will now be suspended for the match against Cardiff on Tuesday.

"It's ridiculous really, because the referee doesn't want to look at it," manager Steve Cotterill told Burnley's official website.

"Perhaps that is because when he looks at it, he'll see he has made a mistake.

"It's ball to hand, the Stoke lad has flicked it up at him from two yards away, so it was very difficult for Michael to get away from that.

"It wasn't deliberate and I think it hit him on his shoulder anyway, but these are the major decisions that they should be getting right in games."
