BURNLEY have completed the signing of Akratitos striker Dimitrios Papadopoulos for a fee of £500,000.

The Clarets had been tracking the Greek Under-21 international for some time, and the player will return to England in time for the Division One campaign.

"Dimitrios Papadapoulos is now a Burnley player," confirmed manager Stan Ternent.

"I have completed the deal over the last few days, which is why I had to go home on Sunday.

"We have paid £500,000 for Dimitrios, and we feel it is a good investment," he told the Burnley official website.

"He is an Under-21 international and we have seen him play on several occasions in the past.

"He can't play in the Isle of Man, as we still need international clearance, but he will be back next week, and I'm hopeful he'll be able to play some part against Everton on Tuesday evening."

Papadapoulos joins his fellow countryman keeper Niko Michopoulos in the Turf Moor squad.
