Colchester have re-signed Ipswich defender Elliott Hewitt on a one-month loan long deal.
Hewitt, 20, who made six appearances for Colchester before returning to his parent club two weeks ago, will go straight into the squad for Friday's league game at Barnsley. "Elliott did a great job for us in the half a dozen games he played and we were disappointed that he had to return to Ipswich," U's boss Tony Humes told the club's official website. "It's great to have him back, initially for another month, and I'm sure that he'll carry on doing a great job." Hewitt progressed through Macclesfield's youth system and signed a three-year contract with Ipswich in May 2012. He spent time on loan at Gillingham last year.
