Birmingham are taking a look at ex-West Ham midfielder Jack Collison, who is considering an offer from Ipswich.

The Wales international had been training with Ipswich but has joined Blues as boss Lee Clark runs the rule over him.

Clark said: "He's just training with us for a couple of days. I know his agent very well. When there's a player like Jack Collison on the open market you let him train to have a look. He's a terrific footballer.

"There's nothing imminent in terms of a potential signing but I've known his agent for many years. We had a conversation and it's no cost to us, Jack's footed his own expenses to come and train with us.

"I think he has a deal in the offing from Ipswich which he's mulling over."

Collison, who suffered a serious knee problem and missed the 2010-11 season, was released by West Ham in the summer.

He made 121 appearances for the Hammers and ended last season on loan at Wigan while he has also spent time at Bournemouth.
