Former Bolton and West Brom defender Abdoulaye Meite says he is waiting to hear from Ipswich over a possible deal after spending a week on trial at the club.

The experienced centre-back, an Ivory Coast international, is seeking a new club after spending last season with French side Dijon.

Before that he spent three seasons at The Hawthorns after joining from Bolton in 2008.

The 31-year-old admits his options in France and England are limited but is not ruling out a move to Portman Road and is waiting on a call from manager Paul Jewell.

He told Sky Sports: "I am training alone at the moment. I am confident of finding a club abroad.

"I had a chat with Paul Jewell, so I am waiting for him to come back to me.

"I would love to play in England again but at the moment I do not have many options in France or England so there are other options abroad."

"It is a bit difficult in France. They want to invest in young players to sell them on in the future."
