Full-back completes move with Tranmere entitled to compensation

Aaron Cresswell says it was 'the easiest decision ever' to join Ipswich Town on a three-year contract from Tranmere Rovers. Skysports.com revealed earlier on Friday that Ipswich had won the race to land the 21-year-old ahead of Premier League and rival Championship clubs. The promising full-back becomes Town's fourth signing of the summer and he is looking forward to making the step up from League One football. "It was the easiest decision ever to come here," Cresswell told the club's official website. "I enjoyed my time at Tranmere and it will be hard to leave home but joining Ipswich is something else. "It's a big club and it's a big step up for me but I'm delighted to have the opportunity to take it. It's the next stage in my career and I'm ready for the challenge."

Parry's pride

Tranmere offered Cresswell a new contract to stay at Prenton Park, but the club will be entitled to compensation which is likely to be decided by a tribunal. "We received two 'proper' offers from Championship clubs for Aaron which were rejected," said Tranmere boss Les Parry. "Ipswich then increased their offer but it was still nowhere near our valuation. He is now free to sign for anybody else and a tribunal will settle the fee. "I would have liked him to stay, but I've always said I take pride in seeing our players move up."
