Midfielder likely to be out for several weeks

Reading midfielder Jay Tabb is facing several weeks on the sidelines after being booked in for an ankle operation. Tabb aggravated a long-standing injury during the recent Carling Cup tie against Torquay United and has sat out Reading's last two Championship games. The Royals were initially hoping he would not require surgery, but he will now undergo an operation on Monday and will be out for a few weeks. Meanwhile, Reading boss Brian McDermott is waiting for an assessment on an injury suffered by Andy Griffin in Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Nottingham Forest. McDermott said: "It was his hamstring, a slight hamstring and he's had a little bit of a problem there so we have to look after him. "I thought Brynjar (Gunnarsson) came on and did well, it just shows how important he is."
