Brentford have signed John Akinde and extended the loan deals of Tommy Smith and Lionel Ainsworth.

Smith and Ainsworth also extend loan deals

Brentford have signed Bristol City striker John Akinde and extended the loan deals of Tommy Smith and Lionel Ainsworth. Akinde arrives at Griffin Park on a month's loan after recently scoring once in seven appearances during a two-month stint at Wycombe Wanderers. The forward will spend an initial month with Andy Scott's side with a view to extending the loan on a more long-term basis. Scott has been active on deadline day after also prolonging Huddersfield Town winger Lionel Ainsworth's stay at the club for the rest of the season. Ainsworth joined on an initial month-long deal last week, but his debut was put on hold after Brentford's game at Oldham Athletic on Saturday was called off due to the weather. Ipswich Town defender Tommy Smith has also extended his loan deal for the maximum 93 days, meaning he will stay at Brentford until April.
