Reds drop dismissal appeal

Nottingham Forest have abandoned plans to appeal the red card picked up by Luke Chambers on Saturday. The Reds felt the defender's dismissal at Reading on the opening day of the Championship season was harsh and were looking to have the decision overturned. They announced on Monday that they intended to appeal the upcoming suspension after scouring television footage of the incident involving Chambers and Shane Long. However, upon further examination, the club have now decided to drop their petition. It is felt that images of the incident in question are inconclusive and an appeal would be fruitless. Meanwhile, Forest have been dealt a further defensive blow with the news that Kelvin Wilson is set to be sidelined for another three weeks. The centre-half picked up an ankle knock during pre-season and has been out of action ever since. James Perch and Julian Bennett remain long-term absentees for Reds boss Billy Davies.
