Burnley keen to bring Chaplow back to Turf Moor

Burnley have made an enquiry to take former favourite Richard Chaplow back to Turf Moor from West Brom. The 22-year-old began his career at the North West club but since moving to The Hawthorns two years ago he has found first-team opportunities more difficult to come by. Chaplow has started just two league games all season and while Baggies boss Tony Mowbray insists he is not pushing the player out of the exit door; he also concedes he could do business if the price is right. However, the current situation is that while Burnley have made an initial approach they are not in a position to take discussions further.

Frustration

"I have had a conversation with Burnley's manager but it appears at this moment they are not in a position to make any progress on those discussions," Mowbray told the club's official website. "Richard is a good lad and he gets on with his work. If I ask him to play in the reserves or in the team he gets on with it. "Obviously he has a frustration in him because he wants to play. While he is not screaming and shouting 'get me out of here' from the rooftops, I understand, as he does, that if the right offer was put in front of us we would listen. "If not I am more than happy to have Richard as part of our squad. I am sure he will have a part to play as we move on."
