Ipswich Town are thought to have agreed a deal with Accrington Stanley to sign Gary Roberts on a permanent basis in January.
Since arriving at Portman Road on loan from the League Two new boys in mid-October, Roberts has made 11 appearances and scored twice for Jim Magilton's Town side.
The rookie tactician has clearly been impressed with the 22-year-old and it is believed that a deal is now in place, although no official announcement is likely to be made before the transfer window re-opens in the New Year.
Whilst Roberts has done enough to ensure he stays with the Championship club, it looks as though trialist George O'Callaghan could be priced out of a move.
The former Port Vale man is under contract at Cork until the end of next season and Magilton is reticent to shell out the £100,000 fee sought by his Irish counterparts.
"We won't be paying a fee of £100,000," said Magilton.
