Ipswich's injury problems are threatening to resurface ahead of the new season, with Alan Lee set to undergo a groin operation.
A series of fitness problems derailed Town's Championship campaign last season, with Sam Parkin sitting out for long periods with a broken ankle and Nicky Forster suffering from knee problems.
They are both hoping to be fit for the start of the new season, but Lee is a much more pressing concern.
The 27-year-old is expected to need eight weeks in order to fully recover from surgery, making him a serious doubt for Ipswich's first game on August 5.
"Sam and myself have a lot of work to do during the summer months," said Forster.
"Next season is a vital one for me and I know the importance of it. My plan - like Sam - is to come back firing on all cylinders for the start of the season."
