NO CITY BID FOR SCOWCROFT

IPSWICH boss George Burley has denied that Leicester have made an offer for James Scowcroft, but confirmed our story regarding the arrival of Bobby Convey and Antonio Otero.

Some reports had linked Foxes boss Peter Taylor with a move for the former England Under-21 international after being spotted at Town`s reserve clash with Arsenal last week.

"It is news to me," admitted Burley. "We have had no offers for James.

"We are not looking to sell our good players.

"We are looking to add to the squad."

The Town boss has, however, revealed that he did show an interest in Laurent Charvet and Jon Harley. Although not making a bid for Manchester City`s new signing, Burley did speak to Bobby Robson about the Frenchman, while Chelsea insist that Harley is not available on a permanent basis.

And United States midfielders Convey and Otero are to have trials in Suffolk, after talks with former defender Frank Yallop, who is now assistant coach at DC United.

"These are two lads who Frank Yallop has fixed up to come over and we will have a look at them in due course."
