Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has confirmed Jason Puncheon and Damien Delaney have signed contract extensions.

Former Southampton winger Puncheon has signed a three-year contract extension at Selhurst Park, which will take him through to 2019.

And Republic of Ireland central defender Delaney has signed a one-year deal with the south London club.

Pardew is delighted to have retained the duo, and he believes Puncheon, who will be 29 in June, has been the team’s most consistent performer since he took charge of the side in January.

“We've secured two players this week. Delaney has signed a new contract and so has Jason Puncheon,” Pardew said.

“Since I've come in, Jason Puncheon has been the best player. He's orchestrated our play. I've given him more responsibility. He's very influential and very important.

“You need to keep your best technical players and at our level it's difficult to get players of Puncheon's quality. I'm really pleased.
