Neil Warnock claims he can’t ask any more of his Crystal Palace side after they drew 0-0 at Tottenham

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock said he was lost for words after his side failed to turn their superiority into goals during their 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

The visitors were largely the better side at White Hart Lane and went closest to scoring when substitute Jason Puncheon smashed a shot against the underside of the bar.

Scott Dann and Yannick Bolasie also brought saves out of Hugo Lloris as Spurs’ struggles at home this season continued.

I thought we played well, we created some good stuff and we broke really well. We knew what we were doing and looked a threat from start to finish.

“It’s not like me to say I’m lost for words but I am,” Warnock told Sky Sports. “We were so dominant, and we had some great chances.

“It’s a fantastic goalkeeping display, out of this world, but I’m still disappointed. I thought we played well, we created some good stuff and we broke really well. We knew what we were doing and looked a threat from start to finish.”

Particularly impressive for Palace were wingers Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha, who tormented the Spurs full-backs all game long.

But Warnock was also full of praise for striker Marouane Chamakh, who he picked out as his man of the match.

“I thought he was fantastic,” said the Palace manager. “We talk about Bolasie doing well but Wilfried is getting better as well. I thought the back four were super, the midfield three were unbelievable and then Chamakh was my man of the match.

Phil Thompson has his say on the goalless draw at White Hart Lane

“We believe we have a decent team. We have felt sorry for ourselves sometimes this season but we have to make our own luck, it’s down to us to get the points and not worry about decisions and positions, and we played some quality stuff today.”

The only frustration for Warnock and Palace was that they didn’t get all three points after looking the better side for much of the match at the Lane.

However, Warnock said he couldn’t criticise his players’ efforts, while also joking there was a reason they all looked up for the game.

“I said if they couldn’t get a result today they couldn’t go out for the Christmas do, so no wonder they put a shift in,” he said.

“I can’t ask for any more, the shift they put in today was amazing. Julian [Speroni] had one shot from [Christian] Eriksen’s free-kick and I can’t remember another that bothered him.”
