Defender signs short-term deal after leaving Ipswich

Crystal Palace have clinched the signing of former Ipswich defender Damien Delaney. As revealed by Sky Sports on Thursday, Delaney was poised to join Palace after leaving Ipswich by mutual consent. The 31-year-old has signed a short-term deal at Selhurst Park and will go straight into the squad for this weekend's clash with Sheffield Wednesday. Delaney is looking forward to linking up with Palace after being impressed by manager Dougie Freedman. "I'm really impressed, I've come here this morning, seen the training ground and trained for the first time," Delaney told the club's official website. "I knew two or three of the lads so they made me feel welcome straight away. The manager's enthusiasm you can see in his training sessions. That's what I want to get on board with. It just felt right."
