Turkish club not targeting Moroccan striker, according to manager

Besiktas are not interested in signing out-of-favour Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh, according to the Turkish giants' manager Samet Aybaba. Chamakh has slipped down the pecking order in North London, scoring just one goal in 19 appearances for the Gunners last season. After being limited to a bit-part role at Emirates Stadium the frontman, who joined from Bordeaux in May 2010, has been widely tipped to leave the club this summer. Reports in Turkish newspaper Milliyet suggested Besiktas were looking to sign the 28-year-old to bolster their attacking options. But manager Aybaba, who recently captured former Sevilla defender Julien Escude, says the Morocco international is not in his transfer plans. He told Goal.com: "We needed a defender like Escude and I think our defence will be stronger with him. We're not attempting to sign Marouane Chamakh."
